4 Critiques About QuickJack – And How We Address Them
We pay attention when QuickJack owners talk. Reviews, forums, social media, support calls and conversations with customers have all helped shape the product over the years. Sometimes that feedback leads to a new accessory. Sometimes it leads to an engineering change. And sometimes it points to a feature that simply needs a better explanation.
Not every critique means something is wrong with the product. QuickJack is designed around portability, a low profile and open undercar access, which means it works differently from a traditional full-size lift. Here are four comments we hear from time to time, why QuickJack is designed the way it is and what you can do about them.
The QuickJack doesn’t lift high enough.
QuickJack is a low-rise portable lift, and that distinction matters. It isn’t trying to replace a full-height two-post or four-post lift. The goal is to get a vehicle high enough for serious work while keeping the frames low enough to slide beneath performance cars and compact enough to store when the job is finished.
That still gives you plenty of working room. QuickJack owners use their lifts for oil changes, brake jobs, suspension work, tire swaps, exhaust work and much more. We’ve even seen owners tackle major projects like transmission and drivetrain work.
But we heard the requests for more height. That feedback helped drive the development of the TL Series, which increased maximum lifting height by 3 inches while preserving the low-profile design that makes QuickJack useful in the first place. Three inches might not sound too impressive at first, but it can be all the difference when it comes to working safely, quickly, and comfortably.
If you need enough clearance to comfortably stand beneath a vehicle, you’re looking for a different category of lift. BendPak offers full-size two-post, four-post and other vehicle lifts designed specifically for that kind of access.
QuickJack frames get in the way of accessing my vehicle from the side.
Every vehicle lift has to make contact somewhere. The question is what kind of access you want once the vehicle is in the air.
QuickJack positions its independent frames along the sides of the vehicle, leaving the center open from front to rear. There are no crossmembers running beneath the middle of the car and no drive-on platforms underneath the tires. That gives you clear access to a huge portion of the undercarriage while leaving all four wheels completely free.
For brake, suspension, wheel, tire, exhaust and general maintenance work, that layout is a major part of QuickJack’s appeal. You may give up some direct side access around the frame itself, but in return you get an open center and wheels-free lifting without permanent posts.
The frames are too heavy to move around.
QuickJack frames are built with 14-gauge steel to hold up to 7,000-lbs. capacity indefinitely. On some models, yes, the frames can be a bit hefty to move around. If you are taking full advantage of QuickJack’s storage capability, you don’t need to deadlift the frames and carry them to your lifting location. Each frame has integrated ultra-durable urethane rubber wheels that allow you to roll your frames into position and cut the frame weight by more than half.
I’m not able to reach my vehicle’s lift points with QuickJack.
Every vehicle is unique... just like you! One vehicle’s lifting points are different than another. We made the QuickJack to accommodate most vehicles on the road with included accessories and offer optional adapters to take care of the rest. Each frame has a lift block tray that allows you to place lifting blocks anywhere along the frame. (Minimum and maximum lifting point spreads can be found on the product pages of each model). This gives you the freedom and capability of using one QuickJack model for multiple vehicles.
